Summary of Homs Events - 16/05/ - 2

#Homs , #Syria - Latest events on the ground of besieged Homs up till now - 16/5/2012

Al Shammas district: Regime's security and Shabiha (thugs) forces invaded the district for the second day in a row and kills a huge number of its civilians. Amongst the martyrs are Sheikh Mere'e Zkairet, Haitham Salloumi (under torture; he was arrested yesterday and was killed under torture; he is a 38 year old, married, and has 2 children).
More than 250 civilians got arrested during the invasion of Shabiha (thugs) to this district. Some of the detainees are:
Muhammad Mahdi and his sons Saleh Mahdi and Basel Mahdi (they originally are from Hasya'a but were present yesterday in Al Shammas district from a visit).
There are true fears that a new massacre similar to that of Karm Al Zaytoun is to be committed in a wider range in Al Shammas district. Yesterday, 21 civilians were executed (amongst them a refugee from Bab Amr); many women and young girls were stripped naked by Shabiha (thugs) then taken to an unknown location.

-Al Qusair: Al Farouq battalion in Al Qusair (political office cooperating with Battalion 77 which also is part of Al Farouq battalion) successfully made a prisoner-swap deal with regime's forces so they'd free members of families of Jaafar and Zai'tar. Overall, 37 civilians were freed (they're all from Al Qusair), including 2 Free Syrian Army soldiers under the command of Al Wadi battalion. Al Wadi battalion was handed in these 2 soldiers, but do note that this battalion is not related to Al Farouq battalion. A document, which will be released later, was agreed upon too.
Also, 10 soldiers defected in Al Qusair at the barrier located near the National Hospital. Although heavy bombardment and gunfire continue target civilians in the city, the revolutionaries there held a beautiful huge protest in front of Al Abtal mosque. The university students of Al Qusair organized this protest.
2 corpses were found today. They belong to civilians killed under torture by regime's army in the orchards of Rableh village (located south of Al Qusair). One of the corpses was recognized: martyr Ahmed Al Naher, originally from Al Nahreyyeh village.
