Summary of Events
Revolutionaries of the city of Khan Sheikhoun in the province of Idlib
secured the delivery of the six UN observers who were targeted by regime
forces yesterday to a UN convoy. The revolutionaries intervened to
protect the observers after regime forces targeted their convoy after
committing a massacre in their presence. Regime forces continued to
shell Khan Sheikhoun after the observers left triggering a massive
exodus.
UN observers visited the Damascus suburb of Kesweh for less than five
minutes, and also visited the towns of Korin and Fayloun in the province
of Idlib where regime forces opened AA gun fire at residential areas in
their vicinity.
Assad’s forces killed at least 40; 26 fell in the province of Homs,
including 21 in the massacre of the neighbourhood of Shammas in the city
of Homs where regime forces targeted unarmed civilians.
The regime’s violations of the cease fire continued, as they conducted
arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the town of Salhiya and opened heavy
fire in the city of Boukamal in the province of Deir Azzour, raided the
neighbourhood of Remaila in the province of Raqa under heavy fire,
opened random heavy fire on the city of Idlib, conducted arbitrary
arrests and sweeps in the Ammaliya area in the city of Aleppo, and
shelled the city of Rastan in the province of Homs.
In the province of Hama, regime forces raided the village of Kafar
al-Toun and the city of Latamna amid heavy fire, shelled the town of
Shizar, and opened random heavy fire in the cities of Halfaya and Hama.
In the capital, regime forces opened heavy fire in the neighbourhood of
Jobar, conducted arbitrary arrests and sweeps in the suburbs of Htaitet
al-Turkman and Deir al-Asafir amid heavy fire, shelled the suburbs of
Sergaya and Daraya, and opened heavy fire in the suburb of Douma.
Demonstrations continued across Syria’s universities, as students
demonstrated at the Agricultural Engineering faculty in the University
of Deir Azzour, the Science faculty of the University of Raqa, and the
Mechanical Engineering faculty of the Aleppo University causing the
expulsion of 65 students and the pursuit of many more by security
personnel.
