|| Field Conditions in Hama and its Suburbs ||
¤ Hama City:
At night, there was intermittent gunfire from security checkpoints in the city, and there are reports that there were clashes between regime forces and the Free Syrian Army at these checkpoints. The sound of the shelling of Rastan in Homs could be heard in Hama last night at the rate of about an explosion every 5 minutes.
This morning, the UN monitors took a tour of various neighborhoods to check if the regime was complying with Annan’s plan. They visited a few checkpoints based on information received from activists, who took the risk of speaking to the monitors despite the concentrated security presence around them.
Some of the activists told the monitors where the tanks were positioned, and went to the Villat Roundabout at the northern entrance of the city of Hama. There, they found BMP tanks, heavy artillery, and machine guns concealed at the checkpoint. The monitors also saw with their own eyes how the security forces are always caring arms in the presence of civilians.
Warplanes flew over the city at a low altitude today. Additionally, regime forces stormed and raided al-Sheikh Anbar neighborhood in search of activists.
In the evening: There were several protests after which explosions and intense gunfire were heard in most parts of Hama. There are reports that houses in al-Arb'een and Mashaa' Wadi al-Jouz were shelled. The sound of gunfire and explosions in the city continued even as this report was being written.

¤ Hama Countryside:
Halfaya :
Some regime forces at the eastern checkpoint near the hospital in the city defected today. Afterwards, regime soldiers raided and searched the farms in search of the defectors as they opened heavy gunfire to scare the people.

Kafrzeita :
Assad forces stormed the city amid heavy gunfire from heavy machine guns, wounding several people, include the pharmacists Nada Diab who sustained a critical injury amid the arbitrary shelling.

Sounds of explosions and heavy gunfire coming from regime forces were heard in al-Taman'a and Tal Waset, where the regime was raiding and arresting people as well.
