report from Latakia on Saturday 12/05/2012
Security was
heavy this morning in University and Campus after yesterday’s silent protest
which saw many random arrests as some were beaten up, and Ziraa gate was closed
today.
Assad army
bombed villages of Terdin and Kindeh with tanks today, as 6 army cars with
security cars blocked the road to Kindeh creating a barrier, and reinforcements
of 5 cars came to buildings in Marj al-Zawieh which were raided by security
gangs and turned into barriers.
Results of
the bombing were the death of 28 year-old Yusuf Abara from al-Raml before
kidnapping his body, and the arrests of many like: Ahmad al-Khair al-Ali,
Muhammad Ismail Suleiman, Muhammad Ismail Bakkour from Naji, Muhammad Shughri
from Kindeh, 35 year-old Abdul-Hakim al-Sayed, 36 year-old Rakan Khalil
al-Sayed, and Ahmad shehebar.
Locals of
the two villages migrated since early morning as Assad forces combed the area.
Assad’s army also occupied three houses in the village and forced families out
of them.
A demo
passed Antakia with no arrests, and the revolution flag was raised in a demo in
al-Raml as protesters cheered for late Yusuf Abara, which was followed by tight
security in the area.
Later demos
took place in al-Raml in Masbah al-Shaab, and in Slaybeh, and also in Sidawi at
night.
Yesterday around
10:30 at night a demo took place in Sidawi, and curfew was enforced in Qnainas
after a night demo was organized there which was met with gunfire to disperse
it.
Yesterday Palestinian
Sheikh Muhammad Abu-Tohi while on his way to Bdama to perform the Friday
prayers there. 3 were arrested yesterday after the Friday prayers near Joud
Mosque.
Today,
security arrested a woman in al-Raml as two members stepped out of a car and
took her given the signal by an officer. 22 year-old Ibrahim Babilleil was
arrested in his workplace in Slaybeh.
Heavy security
was seen in Raml Square, and a building was fully occupied by security in
Ugarit Square.
An explosion
was heard in Izzi area in Jableh, and also in al-Raml, while yesterday
explosions were heard in old industrial area.
