Daily report from Latakia on Wednesday 28/03/2012

Early morning saw Assad gangs raiding Salma village arresting many.

And demos continue like the students’ protests like in Baath School in Owieneh, Abu-Bakr in Jableh, and in Adnan Maliki School and were attacked by security as they reached Sidawi.

Later on a demo took place in Slaybeh, and another was attacked by security in Ashrafiyeh.

Anti regime fliers were distributed today in many faculties inside the Tishreen University campus, and as a result everyone entering and leaving campus was subject to tight inspection.

In the same stream, activists dyed the water in Sheikh Daher in red representing the blood of victims. And principals of Joul Jammal and Yusef Azmah schools have the extra task of repainting school walls over and over again to hide freedom words sprayed by students!

All mobile connections were off today and then back on later except in Al-Raml area.

Informant Khalid Hajj Hussein from Shirqaq was found stabbed to death; many speculate the regime did it despite his being a good servant since the eighties.

Yesterday noon defected officer Ammar Wilio died in Khalidiyah in Homs while doing his duty defending civilians; he was from Ikko village of Latakia.

Hutteen FC ex-football player Hussein Droubi was arrested last Friday and his whereabouts are still unknown. 3 were arrested near the Triumph Arch in Slaybeh after hitting one with a rifle.

At night an explosion took place near Sheikh Daher Square and was followed by full alert in Joul Jammal School (a military base now), with security in the Square and in Ugarit Square as members of the air forces arrived at the former, and an army car left the school. Gunfire was heard near Afaf School.

Many houses were raided in Al-Raml today, after army reinforcements came to the area, and according to locals an army car arrived at a building opposite the metro labor accommodations dropping off heavy weapons.

Army trucks carrying weapons were seen leaving the port, trucks were not licensed and were accompanied by security cars.

Two army cars and two tanks were seen on Haffeh raod getting back to their base in Samiya village. Seven security pick-ups were seen near Kinsabba police station along with a bus full of members, and 3 snipers were spotted on the roof of the building.

A security car and a small truck filled with members were seen in Mashrou’ Al-Slaybeh. An ambulance escorted by two security cars was seen travelling fast in Baghdad Street.
